es devlin is known for creating large-scale performative sculptures and environments that combine music, language and light. she is currently designing the uk pavilion at expo 2021 dubai and her practice was the subject of an episode in the netflix documentary series abstract: the art of design in 2017.
earlier this year, her commission titled memory palace was on show in london’s newly refurbished pitzhanger manor and gallery, which featured an enormous architectural model mapping "pivotal moments in mankind’s history". other recent works also include please feed the lions, an interactive sculpture for the 2018 london design festival, and the design for the london olympic closing ceremony in 2012. she is also part of the 2021 riba international prize grand jury.
es devlin is also known for her monumental set designs for a multitude of musicians and artists including beyoncé and kanye west, alongside her designs for numerous theatres, opera and dance productions around the world.
she has previously been awarded the london design medal, three olivier awards and was made an obe in 2015.
